Richard Ford Meets Stephen Colbert

Richard Ford appeared on Stephen Colbert’s show a few years ago to promote his novel, Canada.

Colbert, as only he can, talks about how offended he is that the novel isn’t named America.

It’s a pretty humorous exchange between the two about Canada, guns, writing, and being famous. Colbert’s awesome, and Richard Ford does an outstanding job of staying with him the whole time.

UPDATE: WordPress hates Comedy Central videos. After spending 30 minutes trying to embed this video, I give up.

This is the interview that got me to put ‘Canada’ on my to-read shelf and grab it at B&N. I’ve paused in reading it, but it’s really good.

Great interview. Ford really comes alive. He is now the author I would enjoy having coffee with. Especially if Colbert were there too. HaHa

Guess I’m in the minority here, but Ford comes off as very unlikable to me. Not sure what it is. Seems kind of cold (like his icebox).
