The Tolkien-Lewis Friendship Hits The Big Screen

It’s a dream come true for a love of LOTR and Narnia fans—that is, if the movie turns out to be good.

That movie is an upcoming drama called Tolkien & Lewis. The film will cost around $18 million to make and will be a “drama fantasy set in war torn Britain in 1941 revealing the faith, friendship and rivalry between J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis.”

The film will be directed by Simon West, who also directed The Expendables 2 and Con Air. Um, what? How many explosions will be in this film? Let’s just hope he doesn’t cast Nicolas Cage.

Casting hasn’t been announced, nor when the movie will start filming. But whenever it does come out, I hope the film gives both of these authors the credit they deserve.

Who should play C.S. Lewis? Tolkien?

  2. How about Colin Firth and Ralph Fiennes in the title roles. Both could play either author.

  4. I agree. I hope they do both men and their story justice. I’m pretty familiar with the story of their relationship, and it was like any other close friendship: a lot of support, good conversations, as well as some conflict. I’m looking forward to seeing it…I think.

I don’t want this. I didn’t particularly like LOTF, but I absolutely loved Narnia. It would be shame if they made it into a movie, because the magic of the Narnia Series would be lost. It’s gonna take a lot to convince me.
