Gatsby For Nintendo, Old Sport!

Hey, did you know that The Great Gatsby comes out on Friday? Have I mentioned that before? Did you know I’m a Gatsby fan? I haven’t talked about that before, have I?

You know I’ll have to review the movie after I watch it (going on Sunday). I might do that next week.

In the meantime, here’s a great way to kill a few hours while you are at work today. Don’t blame me, though.

It’s a 100% fully functional, fully playable online version of The Great Gatsby NES video game from the 1980s.

This is what the internet was made for, my friends.

Gatsby in a video game? Weird. But crazy cool weird. Here’s how it works, according to the Gatsby game website that hosts it.

You’re not in the middle west anymore, son. Welcome to Wild West Egg.

It’s the roaring 20s, and trouble’s in store for Nick Carraway. It’s hard to enjoy a party when you’re being chased by wacky waiters, dizzy drinkers, and crazy dancers! Now you have to find Gatsby, the mysterious man you saw disappear on the hillside…or did he?

Do you have what it takes to fight gangsters and advertisements and hobos? To unravel this American Mystery? Find out in The Great Gatsby.

  • High resolution graphics
  • 4-Channel sound
  • Fully animated story scenes
  • Four action packed levels

Only for Nintendo, old sport!

Does the T.J. Eckleburg advertisement actually attack poor Nick? Did you catch that?

This game is basically like Gatsby meets Super Mario Brothers. I never realized Gatsby left so many spare coins floating around in his mansion.

If you want to play the game, go over to greatgatsbygame.com. Your life will never be the same.

  3. Nintendo version of this game? I would have to say AWESOME! I haven’t seen the game system since the mid 90’s. On the movie though, I am still 50/50 on if I want to see that. I suppose I will be looking forward to your review on the movie to determine my interest. Speak to you soon!

If only I were a gamer. I’m reading the novel right now. Want to finish it before the film’s release this weekend. Now I’d better quit reading blogs and get back to work! 😉

  5. If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re a little anxious for this movie to come out. After all, how does one even find a Great Gatsby retro-styled video game??

  6. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe this is a thing that actually exists! The movie does look good, even though the release being delayed isn’t a great sign, and the trailer is misleading – it makes it look like some shock-a-minute mystery thriller.
