If Cormac McCarthy Wrote Toy Story 3

This comic made the rounds in 2010, and I had never seen it until a few weeks ago.

In social media years, three years is about the equivalent of 100 years. So having not seen this comic is about like not knowing the Titanic sank.

So forgive me if you’ve seen this. Three years ago. But maybe it’s been so long you forgot about it.

Anyway, with rumors recently circulating online about an upcoming Toy Story 4, I thought now is a good a time as any to share this brilliance with you (via Tom The Dancing Bug Blog).

What if Cormac McCarthy (famed author of Blood Meridian, The Road, No Country For Old Men and All The Pretty Horses) had written Toy Story 3?

This is brilliance layered on brilliance layered on brilliance.

Sadly, I never watched the original Toy Story until just a few months ago or so, when my son started getting interested in it. I still haven’t seen Toy Story 3. Ridiculous, I know. I think I’m sensing a trend here of me missing out on things that are popular.

If you’ve never read Cormac McCarthy, this comic nails his style. Just a hilarious piece.

I ♡ Toy Story. The first one came out when I was still quite young, in 1995, when I was 12. I have watched all of them and I am now 30. I related to all the films as I grew. I felt compassion for Jesse for her first owner outgrew her and dumped her. That was so heartbreaking. I gave my toys away to a little child as Andy did when I outgrew them but I held on to Woody through the years. I ended up eventually giving him to my fiancée’s now 12 year son about three years ago. This cartoon was scathingly funny, btw ツ

This is great. What a twisted view of the original which I loved as a child, and this sort of thing always stays with me. 🙂

  8. I love the dark and austere style of the comic, and since is derived from that writer, I may check him out later.

  9. This is so horribly amazing. My childhood has been ruined. Now I have something else to hate Cormac McCarthy for…

Toy Story 3 is my favorite movie of all time and The Road is arguably my favorite novel of all time. This hits home.
