Hear The One About The Turkey In The Library?

This is one of those short posts that was just made for a Monday morning.

Apparently, a library in Deadwood, South Dakota has been having some breaking and entering problems lately. But, no, it’s not a nerdy book collector looking to build up his Ayn Rand collection. It’s a 20 pound turkey.

The turkey somehow broke a window to get into the library. According to the Huffington Post story, the Police Sergeant said he didn’t “see any footprints near the broken window and figured a snow blower had tossed up a rock.”

After looking around, he found the culprit. “That turkey wanted out of that hole,” he said. It took him 20 minutes to catch the fleet footed bird before releasing it back out into the wild to terrorize other public libraries.

The turkeys are pissed about Thanksgiving, and they are coming after our books! Watch out.

  1. This reminded me of the story that This American Life featured in their “Poultry Slam” episode back in December 2011 — about a wild turkey which was terrorizing a neighborhood on Martha’s Vineyard. I know they can sometimes be aggressive but the TAL story was unbelievable!

    • We have a lot of wild turkeys in parts of Nashville. They definitely can get aggressive. Just stay away from my books!

  2. Mention turkey as books to put in the library for readers is terrific !! We’ve read many of light and clear novels. Readers want to try some with animal oil. I am too thin because of weight-decreasing for fashion. I could suffer HDL.
