Deliverance Dueling Banjos…With a Twist

This isn’t a blog about movies. But when one of the 101 books was made into a well-known movie, well, I gotta talk about it.

One of the most memorable scenes, of many, from Deliverance has got to be the dueling banjos. Now, I could post a quick video of that scene and call it a day. But, no, I want to take it to the next level. Instead of a simple video of dueling banjos, I thought I would, in the words of Emeril Lagasse, take it up another notch.

Today, for you, I have posted a You Tube video, a tour de force, of a guy “hand farting” to the tune of the dueling banjos. The technical term for this guy is a “manualist,” but you all know he’s really just a hand farter. If you really want to see this guy at the top of his game, fast forward the video to about 1:45.

Anyway, the next time you hear your kid making this obnoxious sound with his hands, don’t tell him to shut it up. Encourage him! He could be an internet star one day!

  2. Hahaha! I’ve actually seen this before, but thank you for bringing it to my attention again. My husband had never seen it, so now his life is complete. Haha!

  3. I still have nightmares from the banjo music. My fathers lapsed misjudgement he allowed me to watch it in Grade 2. I still shudder at the thought of the movie. As soon as I hear the music on TV; I’m the first out of the room or changing the channel. I don’t even think I’m brave enough to read the book 🙂

    • Second grade? Wow. That one scene in the book is really disturbing. I had to skim over it.

  4. Still have never seen that movie. My parents expressly forbid that I EVER see it. Although, with Netflix Instant Demand, I might cave in one day.

  7. When the music is slow, the hand farting, as you call it, doesn’t sound that great. But when the music is very fast, it sounds pretty good.
