Tell Us About Your Blog!

101books_03

Let’s spread the love around today.

If you’re reading this post, you more than likely subscribe to 101 Books and read my posts every so often. Thanks for that.

Today, let’s return the favor. Tell me and everyone else about your blog! Do you have a blog about your garden gnome collection? Your love of the Chicago Blackhawks? Or do you have a book blog like me?

Whatever it is, share it with us today in the comments section. Don’t be reluctant…this is your chance to self-promote without guilt!

Just a tip, though: When linking to your blog, only include one link. Comments that contain two links automatically go to my spam folder. I’ll keep an eye out for those, but if it really is spam, then I’ll nuke it.

Hopefully, this will be a great chance for all of us to learn about some other awesome content and content creators out there.

Make it as short or as long as you want, but tell us all about your blog.

Also, please share this page on your own sites to direct your readers to all of these great blogs!

  1. Aww, self promotion via comments feels so weird but since you ask…

My blog is Nishita’s Rants and Raves (http://nishitak.com/)

I have been blogging for almost 7 years now, started out as a personal, sporadic Blogspot blog to mark my new-born daughter’s milestones. Felt too personal, so moved to WordPress and started blogging about books, although I try to give it a personal touch sometimes.

Favorite genres are crime fiction and Fantasy although I am currently reading a lot of classics and trying to work my way through (sporadically) the Man Booker prize reading list.

Been a fan of 101Books since the time it got Freshly Pressed for the very first time and been a regular here since.

  2. I’m Barbara Somervill, and I write The YA Book Blog. It is, as you can guess, about young adult books. I’m a writer, teacher, and librarian, and I’m finding that YA books are as good or better a read than most of the rubbish published today. I also write another blog about how to write specific assignments, such as a poetry analysis. I tend to write on the YA Book Blog more often, but will be bumping up the writing blog this fall because I’m teaching writing at a local technical college. The writing blog is How to Write About… Hope to see you on my blog spots!

    June 28, 2013
    • I love your blog Barbara! I am brand new and just getting to grips with blogging, I will be reviewing and discussing a wide variety of genres (I love to read everything) including YA so was great to come across your YA dedicated blog! xx

  3. I write a blog on matters related to leading well and finishing strong. It is primarily of interest to persons in leadership who are trying to navigate those troubled waters, especially as it relates to leading change. I’m also one in the final quarter of his working career and interested in matters related to finishing strong and answering the question, “What’s next?” I’m new at blogging and just getting started though I’ve been around the block a few times when it comes to leading organizations as a pastor and as a CEO of a healthcare organization.

My blog can be found at: http://randallspencedotcom.wordpress.com

    Thanks!

  9. My blog is fairly new, and is devoted to cataloging my journey to read the 150 or so best Presidential Biographies in order: from Washington, Adams and Jefferson up through Obama. I’ve been at it almost six months and have read 31 biographies on the first five presidents. Favorite authors so far include McCullough, Chernow and Ellis…but with many great authors yet to come! At my marathon-like pace I should be done with President Reagan sometime during the fall of 2014. And I really can’t wait to read about Lincoln, both Roosevelts and LBJ!

I have been blogging for 3 years now on and off I recently moved my blog over to word press. I am a book lover with a good reads account and I follow your blog for the great book suggestions. 14. Hi, I’m a Brit named Tom and I too have a book blog. It’s called novelreading and it’s been going since 2009. I mostly read literary fiction – so books similar to the kind found on the TIME Top 100 list that Robert is reading his way through.
I’m always pleased to receive new visitors so do check it out and leave a comment telling me what you think: http://novelreading.wordpress.com/

Many thanks for the opportunity to plug our blogs, Robert. Keep up the good work!

  16. Thanks for this!

I love talking about books from the literary cannon and what makes them awesome, so my blog is my chance to really dive in to what I love about them (or dislike). I try not to go into summary or become preachy. It’s a just a hot soak after a long day, talking about one of my favorite subjects. I’m hoping to open up some real discussions as far as the books and their interpretations go.

  17. My blog is called Cultural Life (http://culturallife.wordpress.com). I started blogging two years ago and cover a range of topics centered around culture, such as book reviews, movie reviews and travel posts. I also enjoy posting recipes and discovering the cuisine of different cultures around the world. I recently visited Scone Palace in Scotland and wrote a blog post about that. I have another travel post (Castle Howard in England) planned in the upcoming weeks. If you decide to visit Cultural Life, I hope you enjoy it.

Like Nish, I’m a regular at 101 Books (I don’t always comment but I read a lot of the posts) and discovered it on the Freshly Pressed page. I especially enjoy literary fiction so 101 Books is always an enjoyable read.

Hi Robert, I was born on 2nd April this year so only started blogging (vicariously through the ‘voice’ of my Dad) just after that. He’s a voracious book reader, when I give him a moment, so that’s why he signed up to your blog. Me, I just like to observe on some ‘inside’ facts from a somewhat younger perspective, whilst trying to keep Dad on the straight and narrow, and also injecting a little humour along the way. So thanks for giving me the opportunity to say ‘Hello’ and ‘Keep On Blogging!’.

Hi! I’ve been blogging about my family for about a year now at http://cutthecrustsoff.wordpress.com.
It’s about how so much of our family life revolves around food and the kitchen (indulging in the old theory about how it is always the most popular room in the house). And I actually like to cook, so there’s some of that in there as well.

  21. I started my blog earlier this year as an outlet for the pressure I felt under to conform to society’s ideals. I write about my personal experiences, issues and beliefs as well as my love of books, theatre and my flock of back garden hens. I travel a lot, I ride my horses, take thousands of pictures every week, raising two wonderful children and trying my best to be a good wife. I’ve posted a few things, one post being all about my love for books, but there all a bit all over the place. The Manofesto’s tag line is “Random thoughts, musings, observations, and commentary on life”. I write about faith, sports, books, politics, TV & movies, pop culture, and whatever else tickles my fancy. I decided early on that I wanted The Manofesto to be an “online cornucopia” and not pin myself down to one subject or another. I’ve been on WordPress about 4 years, but the origins of the blog were on my old MySpace page a couple of years earlier. I hope to one day write for a living, as it is the one job I’ve found that I truly enjoy doing. Please stop by, follow us, and don’t hesitate to leave comments & feedback.

  39. This is a cool, thoughtful idea.

I also have a book blog, which I only started a month ago. On it, I’m working my way through a book list of my own. I post every Sunday about the book I’m reading, or I review the book if I’ve just finished it. I also write about current events on Wednesdays; usually, these posts are about Afghanistan and the war there.

I like this blog because I like the books you read and I like what you say about them. Although, I do disagree with you when it comes to “Mrs. Dalloway.” But I consider any person who likes “Catch-22″ a wise person, a friend…

Hi, I’m Charlie, and I just started a blog in May: http://tonoticeandtolearn.wordpress.com

Though I love fiction, I blog about non-fiction in areas that I’ve read widely, mainly cognitive psychology. I’ve summarized works by Daniel Kahneman, Richard Thaler, and Steve Pinker (I only read Pinker’s ‘The Language Instinct’ a couple of years ago and was blown away by it).

I only have 8 or 9 posts, but they are detailed and thorough. Writing them has helped to clarify my understanding of these works, and if these summaries are informative to others that is a nice bonus!

  45. I blog as ‘The White Page’ ( http://wp.me/1V4A0 ) because as a writer, that’s what I’m faced with every day. The White Page has resources for writers, a list of good books and what I call ‘fuel for the journey’ in other words, little bits of encouragement to keep going. Writing can be a lonely business. Love followers and kindred spirits. Welcome all :)

  47. I can’t remember the post that got me hooked on this blog and made me follow it. Was it possibly the posts on Lolita? Eh, who knows, and does it really matter? All I know is that I’ve stuck around and don’t plan on going anywhere.

I’m Leonore and I’ve actually got two blogs. The first one, As a Linguist… was technically started in 2009, but I didn’t really start developing it until 2011. It’s been woefully neglected over the past few months mostly because of work and school, but also because I started a project on my second blog which has taken a lot of my attention.

As a Linguist… can be linked to by clicking on my name (don’t want to trigger the spam filter by putting two links in this comment). It’s a blog, as you might have guessed, about language and linguistics, and some occasional book reviews. Since I started classes towards a paralegal certificate, I’d like to start writing about the law, though only where it overlaps with my language issues, which will remain my first and best love.

The second blog is called A Modern Day Dinosaur: http://moderndinosaur.wordpress.com/ It started out as a place to put my non-language-related posts, mostly concerning my issues of feeling caught between modern life/technology and my preferences for “outdated” methods and technology. I love using rotary phones, driving manual transmission cars, cooking from scratch (like making my own yogurt), burning really logs in a fireplace instead of gas flames, handwriting letters instead of typing emails… I certainly use modern technology but only when it enhances my life and doesn’t control my life.

Since January, however, it’s become mostly focused on photography, which is the second love of my life. This year, I started a Project 365 project, which is a challenge to post one photo every day. There aren’t really any “rules” other than making sure to post a picture every day. I shoot mostly film (that’s the ‘dinosaur’ in me!)

    June 28, 2013
    • Your blog sounds really interesting. I study Linguistics at university and my career goal is to be a professor of Linguistics. Languages fascinate me.

      June 28, 2013
      • Hi Grace! My goal was also to be a professor of Linguistics, though that goal mutated several times. Still, my entire professional life has been centered around language so I didn’t stray too far – just didn’t go the pure academic route. Once you get the linguistic bug, it never goes away! :)

  48. Thanks for giving other bloggers a place to self-promote on your blog. :)

    I blog at: http://jessielambertwrites.com/

I write about writing, publishing, and reading. My goal is to share what I have learned (and continue to learn) with other writers. I also hope to inspire and nourish my fellow writers, because I have received so much of that from others and I want to give back what I can.

I’ve been blogging for a few years, but I recently made the change to WordPress. I’ve been blogging under a year here.

    Have fun on your trip!

I love writing book reviews and discussing anything I have read but having bored my friends and family to tears I took to the internet in the hopes of meeting like minded people! Stop by and let me know what you think xxxx

  50. Hi! My name is Libby and I love to write about art and literature. I’ve been blogging for years but just recently moved from Blogger to WordPress, which has been a wonderful decision so far. I primarily use my blog as a space to share some of my work (prose, poetry, and painting). I used to be an OR nurse in the US Air Force but am now a mom of three and an MFA student in creative writing. I love to write about the creative process and issues regarding culture, faith, and identity. I also love to promote contemporary poetry and share the work of others that have inspired me. I tend to like simple yet profound poems, nothing flowery or impossible to understand. I also love to write about adoption because me youngest child is adopted from China. Thanks for allowing us to share and promoting a sense of community in the blogging world! You can find me at http://libbykurz.com/

  51. Shameless self promotion? Don’t mind if I do. My blog is Notes in the Margin (muffinbuttreads.wordpress.com) and is about books! Mostly YA fiction/fantasy, but the occasional adult fiction or classic. I also include book news, and my own opinions on literary critique, culture and the publishing industry.

  53. Generous idea!
I’m a fan of ‘complete a somewhat ambitious challenge within a specified time frame’ blogs so I thought I’d join the fun. I’m going through the book, ’1001 albums you must hear before you die,’ just posted #203/1001 this morning. Agree or disagree, it’s been a blast hearing what others have to say about the records on the list. Enjoy!

        • Definitely not marked as spam, not to worry! There’s also a 1001 movies and 1001 paintings, I haven’t seen the books list yet, I’d be interested in seeing what made the cut!

  55. Thanks for this opportunity! I’m Kevin Brennan, novelist, bedroom guitarist, and rookie self-publisher, and I’m blogging about the daunting process of getting my second novel out into the world. My first novel, Parts Unknown, was published by William Morrow, but the vagaries of the traditional publishing business have made getting a second literary novel out there next to impossible. Them’s the breaks, I guess, but now there’s KDP and Smashwords, and I’m stoked!

  56. Hey there, My paid gigs are as a freelance writer for nonprofits and organizations that serve nonprofits. I usually blog about writers, writing, books, my son’s struggles and success with writing. Sometimes I post snippets of flash fiction.

In a recent post, I asked other bloggers to post photos of their bookshelves on their blogs and then link back to my blog. So we could all do a “nosy neighbor” bookshelf hop. Please check it out and post your own photos. June 13 was the “ask,” and June 15 is the “show.”

I try to post at least once a week, and may do a few books at one time. I’ve been Freshly Pressed twice, so I’d like to think I’m doing something right. I’m also Mrs. Genie over on Weddingbee, and you can find my wedding blog link from Ayestria Abridged, if you’re interested in Bengali weddings.

  58. I blog about pretty much anything and everything that interests me. The tagline of my website reads, “A place for reading, writing, and everything else interesting” and that’s about what I follow. I seem to be interested in pop culture from an analysis point of view, from time to time, but I try to refrain from gossip. I should probably be promoting my book “Glass People” more, but I am just not a salesman.

  76. Well my blog ( chaotickeyboard.wordpress.com )is only about a week old so is light on for followers and content but I will get there. So far my intention with it is just to use it as a space to test the waters with creative writing. I want to improve my skills through practice and receive feedback about what I write. So far I have just one poem and the rest are responses to Daily Prompts from blog The Daily Post (more rants or journal entries than short stories or poetry, but I just need a stimulus to get the creative juices flowing). I will get there eventually (hopefully!).

  83. I’m Brenda Looper, and I’m the letters editor for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. I just recently started blogging again five years after I dropped my last blog. My newish blog, Serenity is a Fuzzy Belly (blooper0223.wordpress.com) is a little bit of everything. The original intention with this one was to highlight humor, the occasional short story, and the ways I find serenity (quite often in the antics of the 18-pound feline behemoth known as Luke or my often-weird family), yet sometimes I just can’t help myself. When that happens, I go on weird rants about politics, rude people or anything else that’s sticking in my craw. I do, though, refuse to take much of that stuff too seriously … that route is a short walk to conspiracy theories and tinfoil hats.

Overall, I just try to have fun with it!

  87. This is a great post!! Such a good idea to let us introduce ourselves. I blog about books, movies and video games. I don’t really know anyone in my life who reads so I joined goodreads. Then while on goodreads I noticed people who were blogging.. I kept checking out their blogs and jumped in. It wasn’t easy at first but I learned the ropes. I also run two groups on goodreads (which you can learn more about on my blog). They are the Stephen King Fans and the Young Adult Book Club (totally different types of books! hahaha!). I am going to start clicking through all the blogs here. Nice to meet everyone!

  88. As a man, I’m interested in the dating culture of the 21st century and the social politics relating to it. I also try to get through one novel every week (and usually do I’m proud to say), so I will be writing some opinionated pieces on the novels I find noteworthy and interesting.

I also have a particular obsession for anything to do with the life and loves of Giacomo Casanova whom I regard to be the most fascinating, extraordinary and admirable man to have ever lived. I would like to help share his incredible life story as, sadly, he has become largely forgotten in the modern world.

  93. First, I want to say it’s amazing how much variety there is in the types of blogs that are being promoted here. I look forward to posts from some of them.

Now, thank you for the opportunity to promote my blog. I started this blog in March 2012, it began as a way for me to help college students deal with everyday issues, but it quickly became about my life struggles and my family.

I now use it as a way to help me write my book. I have been working on a book now for a little over 2 years and because it’s a memoir I have to dig deep within my memories. Sometimes these memories are hard to deal with. This blog helps me do that.

    Hope you enjoy reading it.

reading-in-bed.com is a book blog. I started out blogging my way through the 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die, but there aren’t a lot of female authors there… or Canadians… so I go off-list quite often to mix things up. I’m hosting a Moby Dick readalong right now.

  100. Hello all. About a year ago, I started a blog (http://callsofthewild.wordpress.com/) to write about a newfound passion that few women share: bowhunting. But life has a way of, well…getting in the way: I was diagnosed with breast cancer not long after I had started it. Consequently, I kept the blog private for almost 9 months, unsure if I wanted to share that much. After getting through everything, it seemed like time to start living out loud again.

Thanks for the opportunity not only to share, but also see what everyone else is writing about. My blog reading list just got a lot bigger…Thanks, everyone!

  103. Hello world! I started my blog I think a year ago. It is about everything and nothing. Mostly things I like : culture, arts, travel… I hope you like it. http://lapsussays.wordpress.com/
PS: I started to blog because I needed a space to put my thoughts on and just let them there. I never quite thought about sharing the things I write (which maybe explains the blog title). But then I realized : what is the point if I do not share what I write? Sharing is caring. :) Thank you!

    June 29, 2013
  104. I’m not sure what my blog is about… random thoughts, I guess. Mostly I talk about books I’ve read, movies I’ve seen, or my own struggle with writing.

  105. I have to say, this is a great idea. I’m reading all the comments and already finding blogs I’m interested in.

  106. My blog is called “Amelie’s Bookshelf”, and I profile particularly well-designed children’s books old and new.

  107. I am *so* bookmarking this post. I have so many blogs to check out now…there goes my weekend!
I’m a former teacher who is now working on a startup EdTech company, Socratica. I’m a biologist, but I also have an English degree, and I have insomnia, so that means pretty much I read ALL THE TIME. I’m currently reading the Random House Top 100 20th century novels. My blog is called “The Socratica Method” and it’s about our adventures making educational videos for YouTube and where do we get our inspirations.

Thanks so much for this great (and generous) idea.

  108. Oh, wow lots of people before me… Anyhow, I’m Evren and I run World of Books, http://critic42.wordpress.com/ . I am reviewer of books of any type, I get my new books to read from recommendations I receive. So far I have gathered a rather diverse crowd of reviews, though it seems odly lacking in recent books…. But this site is still new (it was “born” this year, January) so it still has a long way to go. Anyhow I hope you visit it.

My blog has a monthly post of the books I’ve read, along with mini-reviews and recommendations.

Originally, I intended the blog to be about the experience of leaving city life for rural life, and I hope to get back to that more and more.

Thanks for the opportunity to self-promote. I’ve found a number of great blogs to follow from reading the comments.

  110. Hello, your idea seem really to be highly successful!
My name is Martina and I started my blog because I wanted to motivate pepole to learn German and English and I therefore also added exercies. Later on I started adding book summaries and now I’ve just added the summary of my very interesting trip to Slovakia.http://rivella49.wordpress.com/
Many thanks for this offer to present our blogs All the best to everybody. Martina

I’m a librarian and recently graduated from the University of Washington’s iSchool (home of superlibrarian Nancy Pearl). My blog is http://dulcineainwonderland.blogspot.com/, and I write short reviews with eye toward Reader’s Advisory, trying to connect readers to books they’ll enjoy.

I read pretty much everything. You’ll notice a lot of YA lately since I took a class about YA materials recently, but the two biggest genres I read are fantasy and science fiction, with a dip into the classics now and then.

I’m reading Jasper Fforde’s “Shades of Grey” right now and loving it. I’ve been following your blog for a while, and enjoy your posts!

    June 29, 2013
    • Let me start by telling I love your blog. My blog Poemattic has been up and running for little over a year. For me poetry is life so anything that inspires me to write poetry I will share in the blog. It contains very personal poems but I have also included favorite poems by other poets. I have tried to encourage bloggers with poetry challenges but that has not been too successful. I also share many photographs that I take of nature and that inspire me to write as well.

I’ll partake, my blog is Tales From Swimmin Hill….I share the ins and outs of living off the grid, raising two young boys, and my journey with an extremely rare neurological disorder called Schwannomatosis. I like to laugh and make light of everything that comes my way – but in trying to raise awareness for my condition (and others like it), I put a very real picture out there. Hope to see some new readers in the nesr future.

  123. The premise of the blog is simple. 52 Weeks. 52 Must Read Books. My life whilst attempting to do so is not quite so straightforward. The first paragraph of this week’s post is just a snippet. Read more at http://themustreadrecords.wordpress.com/

Sister one was perched upon the edge of the bed, resplendent in a bright pink onesie and traditional hat (black and pointy covered in bells and pom poms) worn by the women of Northern Thailand. An old CD, circa 2001, had been pulled from the detritus and such iconic tunes of ‘Mambo No 5’ and ‘Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom’ were now blaring in the background accompanied by the dulcet tones of sister two on the recorder. Another unfortunate salvage from the wreckage.

It was the rarely seen clean-your-cupboard-and-rid-years-worth-of-collected-crap day. Quite frankly, it resembled an episode of hoarders crossed with Christmas morning. Forgotten treasures were being dug up from the vast depths of drawers and shelves and very little actual cleaning/sorting/tidying of any sort was occurring amongst the squeals of “I love/forgot/ need to keep this!”

My blog is a mix of personal and reading– but my reading life is part of my personal life, so I think that’s appropriate. I’m LDS, so occasionally I’ll talk about issues germane to that little culture. It’s not particularly unique, as blogs go, but I enjoy keeping it.

I can’t remember when I started reading 101 Books, but it’s been a while. I’ve enjoyed every post so far, and appreciate the book recommendations!

  126. Hi! My blog is at http://jencanjump.wordpress.com – it started life in March 2012 over on Blogger as a quaint backpacker’s travel blog called Heading to Hanoi detailing my journey across Southeast Asia, mostly as a way to let my mum know I was still alive since I am a terrible daughter and never Skype.

I am no longer a whiffy backpacker, instead I am now a card carrying ESL teacher in Vietnam. I moved over to WordPress in March this year and due to the wider, classier audience I’m writing more about my passions and helping people to realise theirs. I’m also doing my best to inspire people to ditch the 9-5 and explore this great planet.

I do little projects every once in a while too such as eating only Vietnamese food for a week (hands up if you’ve had snails, eel AND pig intestines for your dinner) and my next project is going to involve me collating and reviewing all of the best free travel related apps I can get my hands on. My blog is much more sophisticated these days like…

  128. I have a blog over at http://www.thecurriednut.com! It’s all about food, with at least 1x/month book reviews for a foodie lit club I belong to – which was actually the inspiration to start my blog. :)

  129. I actually write two blogs. In my Communicate! blog (http://dennisfischman.wordpress.com), I share lessons I’m continuing to learn about writing, social media, and building community. My personal blog is Welcome to My World (http://dfischman.blogspot.com). There, I muse about politics–by which I don’t mean parties and candidates as much as who’s using power to make life more human and who’s using it to degrade other people and themselves–plus Jewish topics and the occasional random thought. If you enjoy books, you’ll find plenty of reviews on each site. Welcome!

  130. Alexandra #

Hi! My name is Alexandra and my blog is called Alex’s Next Move. It started out as me writing about my amazing move from New Jersey to Georgia with my current boyfriend and is all about my “fish out of water” experiences, as one of my friends called it. But in a turn of events my boyfriend proposed the day before the move! So now I have a wedding to plan on top of learning my way around a new city, getting a job, finding new friends, and maintaining my relationship with my new fiancé.

I’m very new to blogging (my first one), but I love to write so I figure I’d just put my experiences out there to share them with others. Hope you can make time to check it out. :)

  136. What a generous post idea! I am a college English student, and I just recently (2 weeks new!) started a blog where I review and recommend books. I typically stay within the genres of YA dystopian/sci fi, contemporary fiction, or thrillers. My blog serves as a way to make me feel more productive about wasting away my summer reading books on the beach!

  138. My blog is fairly new, and was started with a reading challenge in mind – to read all the books on the Man Booker Prize shortlist since its inception. It’s been a slow start as I’ve been distracted with all the other hundreds of books I want to read. So the blog has morphed into a ‘whatever’ mix, mostly to do with my reading habits still.

  146. Hey, it;s me again. I’m glad I didn’t pretend to know it all. As I had stated earlier, am new to all this – blog, tweeter, website thing. It is my book that caused all this wahala. I had to start a blog :http://ugoagadauyah.wordpress.com to market it. But I have tried to make my blog as interesting as possible. As I started in the blog above, am a culture expert turned writer, so I try to spice my blogs with my peoples’ rich culture. You are invited to relish my exotic dish. I hope you love it. Enjoy.

  147. Just so you know, Robert, you have a reader all the way in Moldova (a little Eastern European country) – and occasionally two readers, when I share a post with hubby. And while I haven’t read half of the books on Time 100, I still enjoy reading your reviews on them.

I also have a blog where I write about books, and reading, and life as a bookworm. I’m a Romanian speaker, but I do most of my reading in English, so I write in English too. Weird, I know but hey – weirder things happen in this world wide web!

  148. I have a blog that’s ostensibly about being an academic with epilepsy, though the focus tends to shift a little from post to post. I’m new to the blogging world, but, thus far, at least, it’s been a great way for me to write about something other than 1930s Italian literature, the topic of my almost-complete dissertation. I just found your blog and love it—I’ve read at least 2/3 of the novels on the Time list (plus Ulysses!).

Just entering the blogging world. I’ve written for myself since my teens, but only recently decided that someone might like what I write. My blog, established just recently, it about dealing with cancer in real life. 152. Hi!
I blog over at psriblog.wordpress.com, and it is Yet Another Book Review Blog, I’m afraid. Still, I’ve tried to differentiate, by reading -and reviewing – profoundly unfashionable books. My teenaged son assures me that nobody in the world would be interested in any of the books I blog about. To make things easier on my readers, I keep my reviews essay-length – I think I average about 1,200 words per post. Oh, and it is mostly text, and the theme I’ve chosen is pretty bland and colorless too.
Unbelievably, I do have 27 people following the blog – they include neither my mother nor my wife, who are united in their inability to stand the drivel I read or write.
I am quietly confident that at some point in the future, my blog will hit cult status, and they will have to build out entire server farms to handle the load of the hordes stampeding to get a peek at my blog.

  166. As a writer and journalist based in the Sultanate of Oman, nearby Yemen, I like your blog. The idea is marvelous. The writing of my book The DNA of Salalah-Dhofar, A Tourist Guide as an ebook on http://www.amazon.com brought me to my blog http://www.alarba.wordpress.com. The goal of the blog is simple: bringing two worlds together, the east with the west, by the daily life of the people themselves. It also put me on the track to learn reading and writing Arabic. Because I think if I can also read books from this part of the world it can only enriches my life. And perhaps who knows one day, I start my 101 blog of Arabic literature……. Perhaps a promise that I make right now to myself to study harder…..

My blog is filled with not only book related items, reviews, but also little quips and commentary. I have been told it’s fun and quirky but I’ll let you all be the judge of that one!

  171. My blog is relatively recent. It’s inspired by Susan Hill’s book ‘Howards End is on the Landing’, and the concept is that I debar myself from buying any new books for a year, and read those books I already own but have never got around to reading. Susan Hill lives in a large house with a massive landing. I live in a small cottage (which was once the Pre-Clockwork Orange home of Anthony Burgess) so I have to make the most of all available space, including in the smallest room..My blog is therefore called ‘Mrs Dalloway is in the Cludgie’, a ‘cludgie’ being the Scottish dialect word for ‘toilet’.

So far we’ve had travelogues, biographies, literary prizewinners, tales of exploration, books about politics and current affairs and crime fiction. My choices so far have taken me to Cornwall, Guernsey, the North West Passage, Dorset, a south London sink estate, Brighton, Chechnya, Scotland, Boston, Moscow, Aberdeen, Long Island, Tehran, Switzerland, the South of France, Sierra Leone and Liberia.Historical figures to have flitted across the screen include Richard III and Margaret Thatcher.

You can find it on the blog page of my research consultancy, Perjink Research http://www.perjinkresearch.wordpress.com/blog. It’s been great fun checking out all the fascinating blogs tended by Robert’s readers. Do drop by.

    Hey!
I’m an up and coming writer in Manchester, and my blog is my little spot of internet joy. I wanted to create a blog that was accessible to writers who might be struggling in terms of procrastination, or want something new and exciting to read. At the moment I write articles about bits and bobs that have captured my imagination, projects I’m working on and things throughout the week that I think my readers would be interested in.

I only started my blog recently but I’m really enjoying it so far! Writing can get pretty lonely and it’s great to find a group of people to share it with.

Hi, what a great idea. Like some others above I’ve only recently started my blog. It’s about my toddler daughter who I suspect is an evil mastermind. Since her birth it’s been hard to get back in the writing groove, but then writing’s always hard, so many reasons to psych yourself out. But I’m finding that writing leads to more writing so I’m glad I started it. It will be nice to check out what other like-minded souls are doing.

  174. I’ve followed this blog for a little while, so am jumping at the chance of some shameless promotion.

I write a little blog called ‘Scribbles of a Geek’ where I write about my misadventures into writing, as well as my daily life as an aspie teenager. I have posts about my cosplay, the reenactment hobby and feminist issues, as well as a fictional ‘The World According To Fred’ where my old teddy bear is given a voice once a week about various things.

I’m another book review blogger always keen to meet new folk and talk books:

    http://roxploration.wordpress.com/

I read a wide variety of stuff but I do especially enjoy literary and historical fiction. I also have an ongoing obsession with the polar exploration with a special review section, “Polar Ponderings,” for books on that topic, everything from Captain Scott to Lovecraft’s “At The Mountains of Madness” and if anyone can contribute to my growing list of polar fiction recommendations then I’d love to hear from you.

Thanks for giving us this chance to promote our blogs and find new ones to enjoy :)

On my blog, my best friends and I write about life, love, and growing up. We are just five women in our early 20s trying to figure out life after college. Once a month, we have a theme week where we all talk about the same thing (like travel, movies, etc.), but most of the time we talk about whatever is on our minds at that moment. 181. My site is about creating awarenes of the ‘Right of Passage and Re-integration Process’, from ‘Imprisonment to Citizenship’ and ‘the ripple effect of re-entry, the psychology and negotiation dynamic of acceptance as being human.
I’ve spent many years travelling the globe and experiencing different cultures. I am embarking on a career in Academia after six years in prison on a drugs offence. Addiction and booze now conquered my writing is my new addiction. I’m almost finished my first book ‘Life Begins at Forty’ whic is my tail of prison like no other before it. I allow people to think about life and always maintain that there are people much worse off than one’s ‘self.’ My blog hints at this and includes soem of my poems and short stories. It’s a fledgling concept I hope with help and assitance can grow inot something enjoyable to others and purposeful.

  187. You don’t have to ask me twice!
My blog was initially intended as a place where I review books, but what it has become is really just me discussing metaphorical resonance and philosophical elements of the books that I have read. I try to vary my genres, but I really am a lover of the classics. I like to think of my blog as a place for book club-esque literary discussion.
I also post my random thoughts when I have them, and when they are tangible enough to form into an actual post.
Really though, I am just so so proud of what I have done so far, so I don’t feel bad at all about trying to promote myself :)

My blog is predominantly book reviews but I also discuss issues that frustrate me and I want to try and start reviewing films, food or anything I have an opinion on. I want a blog where readers get involved and comment concerning their own opinion as I’m still young and I yearn to learn more.
I’d really love some suggestions on books that I can read and review because when I set out to buy a book, it’s because I know it will be a good read. I want to read a book that I can hate, you all understand that, don’t you? Haha. Suggestions on anything would be great. So have a nosey here… http://landofopinion.wordpress.com/

  198. Hi there,

My name is Cathy Evans. Nice to meet you. I really enjoy reading this blog and blogs in general and I am interested in creating my own blog. I just discovered a good website to download my favorite books. The website is called http://www.ebookr.it and I thought of writing about what I read or to find what people read nowadays and share with them their and my favorite books. would that be a good idea? And also to share info about other websites for books like this that I found yesterday ebookr.it I really enjoy reading. I mean even if I am at work I go for one hour and instead of spending my time eating my lunch I rather read a new book because I can download unlimited books from this website for a whole month.

I need your opinion if it’s possible.

    Thank you very much.

Okay, since everybody’s doing this thing, I’ll join in. I’m Aravind, and I’m an Indian teenager living in the United Arab Emirates (no, people, Dubai isn’t a country). My username, as you can see, is theundeniableanglophile, but after a few days with that name, I realised that Anglophile wasn’t the precise term, so I changed to blog’s name to theundeniablebibliomane, though I couldn’t change my username.
I love reading, writing and meeting people. WordPress has a lot of people with interesting views, which is why I love it. I haven’t been getting a lot of people to check out my blog, so I really need some way to let people know. I’m still going to high school, and in this particular me, everybody is just too simple to keep a blog. I mostly do book reviews, but you can also find other posts strewn haphazardly here and there across my blog. I would really love it if you guys could just go on and check out my blog, and I can’t wait to read yours!
    P.S- Robert, you’re an angel.

  201. Just discovered your blog and the conversation here. Very interesting. I started a humor blog about three weeks ago called Uncle Bardie’s Stories & Such (unclebardie.wordpress.com). My objective with the blog is to entertain and hopefully give the reader a good laugh. I try to keep them short, although I did fail to do that with one. The humor is modelled after the wonderful Dorothy Parker. There is even a cartoon. I am having a great time writing them and I hope the reader will have as good a time as I do.

  202. BOOKS! Great idea for a blog, i will be paying close attention from now on, though looks like I’m a little late to the party.

As a fledgling blogger and a lover of books, poetry and pretty much anything made out of words, I am filled with glee at the number of literary and arty blogs on wordpress. From what I’ve seen so far I’m already impressed by the community of writers, artists, amateur comedians and other weird yet wonderful folk who seem to be milling around these sorts of blogs.

LiewithStyle is a not-so-serious little page devoted to poetry, puns and doodles, with a literary twist. I can’t promise to make any sense, but I can promise to at least attempt to entertain you for around 4 seconds per post.

  204. I am new to blogging, I started at the end of August, and I have been sucked into the world of book blogging every since. I have always been a big reader and I have a very eclectic range of interests from romance and fantasy to “real” books that are actually meant to be thought provoking. I love the idea of 101 Books and now that my kiddos are older I hope to take a similar book journey just as soon as I break free of the addictive hold that trashy books has on me. I write my reviews at http://www.monlatablereviews.com/ and would love for anyone to stop by and leave a comment or suggestion for me anytime.

I’m a bibliophile and a “searcher,” and after reading your review of Walker Percy’s The Moviegoer I’m reminded not only of my need to read that book immediately, but also of the true value of a chance blog encounter. I stumbled onto your blog after creating my own, http://threadtwitch.wordpress.com, and I’m officially hooked. It’s an excellent idea to read your way through the 20th century, and it just so happens that you appear to be an excellent reviewer of books. Well done sir, well done.

In keeping with the thread theme, my blog is about my search for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through the medium of the Roman Catholic Church. I’ll blog about all things Catholic, whether theological, ecclesial, cultural, historical, or political. I’ll also go off-topic and touch on British history and culture, which I find fascinating. I’m new to blogging, though, so anyone that checks me out, I beg for patience.

My blog NESTpirations~from our not so empty nest, drapersmeadow4.wordpress.com, addresses (in a philosophical or funny manner) anything and everything that crosses my path – past, present or future, that serves to teach me as I explore the world in which we live.

Yes…. unashamed self promotion! I love it. So I am a stone cold newbie to blogging. But with a lot of hope and equal parts luck, I will do a decent job.

My blog is Salvatore Odyssey “a journey through the literary works of R.A. Salvatore”.

I literally just opened it today. I am very excited to have it up and running. It is not a typical book review blog. I will be writing posts and reviews as if I was actually the with the characters during these stories. I don’t know if anyone else is doing this…. but I am going to either way.

  216. This is a kind gesture, Robert. Thank you. PS. I left a comment on the Henry Green piece blogged on October 3rd. An interesting man! Anyway, my blog covers the following modernist poem:

A History of Feeling: Dreams & Nightmares

My extended poem, ‘A History of Feeling: Dreams and Nightmares’, has been
described in the following way, as a “powerful poem, characterised by a compelling
and disturbing narrative—tackling a number of thematic concerns relevant to
Scottish, American and global society in the 21st century.”

Of significant, current relevance, I explore the corrosive effects of modern culture— disenchantment, greed, disenfranchisement—and the feelings of being abandoned
in modern capitalist society. Alongside the consideration of poverty and its impact
on people, is the perennial Scottish question of immigration.

Indeed, there is “a hint of autobiographical perspective”, and my book has been
described as a “forceful analysis of identity across a range of spheres: family,
    personal, community, national and international.”

An academic friend has kindly critiqued my work, describing it in the following terms—
as “enormously emotional, one which rocks any complacency you may
have about the state of Scottish and American society. It aims to provide a deep and meaningful contribution to our understanding of the human condition—in our own communities and in the world at large.”

The Ruminator features wry personal ruminations on everyday topics ranging from why I let my lawn go to crabgrass, to the alarming paucity of monarch butterflies this year. I write on my struggle with the writing process — how I made comedy out of my own suffering, for instance, creating a novel from it. I’d chronicle my awkward experience as a newbie learning social media, its pitfalls and successes. I talk about how I fictionalized my painful past to create my comedic novel, The Opposite of Everything.

  227. My dream is to one day be a published novelist. Until then, I write poetry, fiction, and nonfiction on my blog http://www.reflectionsofaredhead.com. I also like to talk about the complexities of being a ginger. I hope to maybe narrow down my blog to a specific topic at some point, but I like publishing my writing for now.

My blog is http://locationsense.com/ “bringing real estate knowledge to your door.”

There’s a lot of data floating around the internet and a lot of misconceptions about real estate. I use my personal experience as a Broker, Realtor, and tenure in investments along with analytic, market and scientific research from human behavior to economics to statistics. No listings here; purely educational.

Please feel free to visit, post comments, or tell me what interests you. Whether you are looking to buy a home or lease a retail place for your new business this blog will get you covered.

    Thank you for the opportunity!

  237. Exploring Classics explores English and French literary classics.
    http://exploringclassics.wordpress.com/

I am a college student, studying biology and French. My love for literary classics and for the French language inspired me to start this blog. The French world has created some of the greatest literature, so I want to introduce the non-Francophone world to these works. All French classics that I review are available in translation, and many can be downloaded on Kindle for free. I have a list of 50 English and French classics that I plan to read in the next 5 years.

Hello Robert, and Robert’s followers. Thanks for the shameless self-promotion opportunity.
My name is Joseph, and I too am on a quest to read 100 Great Novels, though a different list. The story of the list I’m using, is the first post in my blog, and the list itself is the second. Also, like you, I have other demands on my time, so I’m not flying through the list. I hope to get halfway through the list in 2014. Anyway, thanks again for the opportunity. There’s a lot of overlap of course between our lists, so now I’m off to read some of your reviews. Cheers

My blog follows my crazy attempt to make it through my never ending book basket that is filled to the brim with fantastic books waiting to be read. During that attempt I review books, and discuss vitally important book related topics. (At least I think they’re important!) I strive to post book reviews that are fun, engaging, and just a little bit crazy.

Whatever they may do their best to tell us, there are and always will be sublimely mysterious dimensions to life for which materialist science with all its brilliance can provide only one dimension of the answer…..

And – greetings from Scotland from blogger Anne Whitaker at “Writing from the Twelfth House”. The above clip sums up the essence of my blog. Greetings to all the optimists who added their blogs to this wonderfully long list. `Since I’m the latest, I must be the greatest optimist!

LEAD Parenting is the prescription, where L is for Love, E is for Example, A is for Advice and D is for Discipline. As parents we have to LEAD constantly. If we do not, we pay a huge price in unleashing into the world delinquents. The basics and finer points in LEAD parenting appear in my forthcoming book, The Child Is Father of the Man, Your Child Your Finest Achievement.

I’ve just started a blog called On the Arm of the Sofa. This is the link: http://onthearmofthesofa.blogspot.co.uk/

I keep the books that I’m reading on the arm of our sofa and that is what the blog is about. There have been a few book landslides when the pile gets too high but I’m doing my best to get through them. My current challenge is to read 10% of the books that I own (but haven’t yet read!!) by the end of September.

  260. Well then, I’ll have to add mine to this gargantuan list. My blog is all about books and writing. My own writing, as well as writing about writing. I review mostly sci-fi and fantasy, but I dabble in the classics, as well. Not only do I blog about writing and books, I also write about science. I’m currently going through a tour of the solar system’s moons, doing a series on worldbuilding, and will be starting a tour of the world’s national animals by going through each country in alphabetical order. Its name is “I Read Encyclopedias for Fun” because that’s what I did when I was a kid.

In following him to four prisons, and dealing with his involvement with the CIA, more criminals than you can imagine, a friendship with Aldrich Ames, John Gotti, and represented by F. Lee Bailey—well, you can imagine the experiences I’ve had during my research. So, I’m writing about them in a blog. You can find it at http://www.dicksbook.net. I think you’ll like it.

  267. Hi! I’m Rebecca! I am new to the blogging world, though not new to writing. I am an avid reader of all kinds of books. YA, fantasy, science fiction, true crime, etc. I will read almost anything, as long as it keeps me at mid-level interest for the first chapter or so. I review every book I read on my book blog, Bookality.
Every time I finish a book, I find myself scouring the internet, library, and any other source I can find for recommendations for my next fix. For this reason I have decided to share my love, knowledge, and opinion on the books I have come across and the ones I have on deck to read. Come see me sometime! http://www.bookality.wordpress.com
Thank you for the opportunity to self promote!

  268. Cool, a little self promotion. My name is Craig, struggling author, new blogger. Well I have been in and out of blogging for a while but this is my first concentrated effort ( http://mindbodymash.com ). It’s a blend of fitness, outdoors and book reviews, because I think that a healthy mind and body make for a well rounded person. I hold a masters in English and have been reading and writing my whole life, books are my passion. I am also an avid OCR athlete and find solace in fitness and the outdoors. I like reading your book reviews because it’s nice to be reminded of some works I have overlooked in my life surround by texts.

My name is Jo and I’m a fairly new blogger (April of last month!)
I LOVE reading and I have hundreds of books that I haven’t even gotten to yet on my bookshelf. I started blogging so I could remember certain things about the books I read, connect with like-minded people and I wanted to share my opinions with others.
I’m pretty open minded when it comes to reading and I read almost anything like true crime, biographies and so on but my favourite genre is young adult paranormal books.

I suggested a easy-to-maintain website/blog, he accepted the idea & I am now the website administrator. The blog is about a month old so I’m still learning about the world of blogging. My focus is on book-related matters e.g. social media, Goodreads, benefits of book rental. Yesterday was Father’s Day & I wrote about my favourite fictional father, Atticus Finch. :)

I also talk about all things book-related! So even if you’re not a fan of Gilmore girls, there’s something for everyone!
