Five Creepy Neuromancer Book Covers
What is it with Neuromancer and the creepy book covers?
After noticing a trend, I did an image search of the novel and came up with five book covers that may or may not give you the willies.
You tell me, which one is the creepiest? Here are the candidates:
1. As commenter Lunar Euphoria said, this one definitely has a 1980s feel. Reminds me of a Journey album cover. Something about those eyes.
2. I believe I read that this cover is for the Brazilian version of the book. You’ll also notice it over in the sidebar of my blog. Again, the eyes, or maybe it’s the lack of eyes on this one.
3. I don’t know exactly which version of the book this cover is from. But that’s a strange one. Quite a receding hairline on the guy whose head is protruding from red tile.
4. This one’s from the graphic novel adaption of Neuromancer. Takes the creepy factor to a new level.
5. Okay, I don’t know exactly what’s going on here, but the corpse-like pose, the closed-eyes, and the pale, bald head on this guy is a bit unsettling, yes?
From the first 22 books, Neuromancer, by far, has the most creepy book covers. My vote as the creepiest has to be #5.
Agree or disagree?

The second one is definitely the worst. If I saw that book lying around my house, I would run and hide, not pick it up and start reading for hours!
#5 certainly seems alive and frightening – fully immersed in the matrix. #2 feels a bit more creepy to me – kinda zombie-ish.
#3 is terrifying.
#1 really does look like a Journey album cover. Haha! I have to agree that #5 is the creepiest–it kind of reminds me of the movie Lawnmower Man, and that movie really creeped me out. #3 is pretty weird, too.
Oh! I was quoted in your blog – how exciting!
#4 looks scary.
#3 Makes me want to read it for some reason.
#1 looks like it drew inspiration from Tron, but despite that, I think it’s the creepiest.
Number 5 may be creepiest, but Number 2 could be seen from a distance, which would really make my skin crawl. I imagine being across the room, spotting the book and feeling like it’s non-eyes were blazing holes into my skull.

I think 2 is the creepiest, just for the mere simplicity of it. I’d have to put something over the cover to read it!
#2 has to be the creepiest it looks like it gonna jump out of the cover and scratch me or something worse very creepy ….
